  • Notes
    • Thanks to help from Hans Dieter Reinhard, I know that this Franz (or Michael) was Catholic and from Walldurn.

Interestingly there is a family of Trabolds from this area, some records with births to 1589. An avenue to explore....

      See

It appears that this Franz converted to Protestant from Catholic when he married Magdalena Mack in Walldorf.

    • Interesting bunch of Walldurn Trabolds found on gedmatch, probably related.

    • Trabold of Walldurn

The oldest ancestor that I have is Valentin Trabold (spouse Anna Unknown),
They had 2 children, Anna Maria Trabold, born 10 Feb 1684 in Glashofen, Baden-Wuertenberg & died 1 May 1746 in the same place. She married Benedict Schretzmann, born 22 Mar 1871 in Glashofen, on 26 Jul 1706 in Glashofen. They had 10 children.
The other child of Valentin is Franz Trabold, born 10 Jun 1687 in Glashofen, and my husband?s fourth great grandfather. He married Anna Maria Wackesser who was also born in Glashofen. I do not have her date of birth, nor the marriage date. They had a son, Franz Trabold.

Franz Trabold, my husband?s 3rd great-grandfather, was born 11 Mar 1736 in Walldurn, B-W. In 1764 he married Magdalene Beuchert (b. 3 Aug 1744 in Walldurn), Franz died 28 Dec 1818 in Walldurn; Magdalena died 15 May 1806 also in Walldurn. They had 6 children: Johann (8 Oct 1772), Eva Catherine (27 dec 1775), Lorentz (9 May 1778), Andreas (18 May 1781), Eva Catherina (1 Sep 1784) and Josef Anton (28 Apr 1787-31 Mar 1857)

The youngest, Josef Anton, was my husband?s 2nd great grandfather. He lived all his life in Walldurn, where he married Margarete Herkert on 4 Aug 1811. She was from Hainstsdt (I don?t have her DOB) and died 9 Nov 1866 in Walldurn. They had 7 children: Franz Josef (b. 30 Aug 1812), Barbara (b. 30 Nov 1813), Josef Anton (b. 23 Feb 1816), Maria Anna (b. 7 Dec 1818-d. 2 Mar 1901 in Rochester, NY), Franz Simon (b. 3 Aug 1822-18 May 1904), Johan Georg (b. 3 Apr 1925), Heinrich/Henry (b. 15 May 1830-17 Nov 1920 Gates, Monroe, NY)

Heinrich/Henry was my husband?s great grandfather. He came to the Rochester area in 1849.

As far as the name Trabold goes, I did a lot of research on the name, and I have found many Trabolds that I cannot connect with. Even in Germany I have met some that we can?y connect with. There were some in New Jersey, some in Philadelphia, North Florida, even one family who moved from Long Island to the Rochester area. Believe me, I have tried to make some connections!
